Cinderella Project Has Healthy Crop of Gowns for
Harvest Dances and Fall Formals
Young women facing hard economic times encouraged to contact
the Cinderella Project of New Hampshire for gowns and accessories
BEDFORD – Now that students have fallen into their school
routines, the next big events on the calendars include Homecoming
Dances and fall formals.
For students who are facing hard financial times, The Cinderella
Project of New Hampshire, a non-profit organization that provides
formal gowns and accessories free of charge, has a fresh crop of
new and gently worn gowns perfect for any formal occasion.
“Thanks to donations from area bridal shops and special
fairy godmothers who want to help out, we have a great selection
of dresses and accessories this fall,” said Joann Sowa, executive
director of the organization.
Gowns, shoes and accessories range in all colors, styles and sizes,
and young women select their own gowns during a visit to the organization’s
storefront in Hooksett. Statewide referrals are welcome from guidance
counselors, teachers, coaches, social service agencies, organizations
that interact with teens, and parents who know a young woman who
could benefit from the Cinderella Project of New Hampshire. Families
of teens who qualify for public assistance are the primary beneficiaries
of the program. Sowa said teens with extenuating family circumstances
will also be considered when granting a donation.
This year alone, the Cinderella Project has provided formal
gowns and accessories free of charge to 90 young women
across the state,
including more than 60 during traveling boutiques to New
Hampshire’s
North Country. Since it’s inception in 2002, the group has
assisted more than 700 young women.
To refer a young woman to the Cinderella Project of New Hampshire
or to set up a boutique to try on gowns, call (603) 472-8043,

The Cinderella Project of New Hampshire is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit
organization.
